Sandy, Key West has so many awesome little museums if you are interested in doing something along those lines. If you check out my Facebook photos, I have pics in a folder called Mel Fisher's. The Mel Fisher Maritime Museum is just off the pier, and is very cool! Also within walking distance of the pier is The Little White House, which ended up being my favorite museum in Key West. Truman spent quite a bit of time there, and the history involved in the place is really interesting. I have a few pics from outside in my Disney Magic folder. Also, if you like cats Hemingway Home is a great place to visit. It's lovely inside, but I really enjoyed seeing all the cats! It is also within walking distance, but definitely a bit further. Pics from here also in my Disney Magic folder.
Key West also has a small aquarium and a butterfly garden. I have never been to either, but have heard good things about them.
Oh, and you must try Frozen Key Lime Pie on a stick! You will find it at several places around town.
Let me know if you want info on anywhere in particular. I spent quite a bit of time down there during my college days.
