xx few questions......
« Thread started on: Mar 12th, 2010, 6:30pm »

Okay....I have a few questions for you all....I know I still have a few more months....but was wondering. How many pieces of luggage to you usually take when you go to Disney for a weekhuh I was thinking one carry on and one check for all 3 of us. Just to have room to bring home gifts.

And my husband and son have not ever flown and I have not been on a plane since I was 10 years old....so I was wondering....since we change planes in GA....do they transfer our luggage to the other plane....or does it come off the belt and we check it in againhuh

These might be silly questions but I have no idea....and want to be prepared....and might be asking more silly questions later wink

Can't help much, we drive, but I'm pretty sure they will transfer your bags. We always take way to much stuff, we look like the Clampetts going down the road!

When switching planes, your checked bags will be transferred by the airline. You will, however, carry your carry-ons with you from one plane to the next.

As for packing, that really depends on you. I am a bit of an over-packer, so I am probably not the best person to answer ?'s about packing. wink Like a scout, I always want to be prepared for everything! LOL!

My Dh and I usually each have 1 carry-on (a small, rolling suitcase) and 1 large checked bag for each of us. Sometimes I will also have either a tote bag or a large purse type bag with me, too. And sometimes he will also have a backpack or over-the-shoulder bag with him.

I pack at least 1 outfit for each day and at least 1 complete "spare" or extra outfit. If the weather looks to be varied, then I will pack plenty of "options" for warm/cold weather. I also always pack at least two to three pairs of shoes, a few light weight cardigans/hoodies (to wear inside places that run their A/C too cold), a rain jacket, at least 1 swimsuit, and a backpack. And even if the weather looks like it will be hot, I will always have at least 1 pair of pants/capris/or jeans packed -- just in case the weatherman is wrong! wink

Happy packing!

Michelle took my answer! I tend to plan for all contingencies, too. But know that if it's freezing cold one night, you'll have no problem finding somewhere to purchase a Disney hoodie... wink

Yes, hoodies are plentiful at Disney. And on more than 1 occasion I have added to my hoodie obsession while at Disney. wink

Also, there is a large outlet mall near WDW, so should you forget anything -- (or just want to shop...) there are nearby options. wink

I usually take one suitecase, and it is 75% full when I head down. 100% packed when I return. grin

One piece of advice: all of the WDW hotels have laundry facilities, so don't feel the need to take 3-4 pair of pants. Maybe take just one and wash them if you need to re-wear.

There have been times when I have packed light and just laundered my clothes mid-week. It's usually around $4 to wash & dry a load of clothes. But that gives you an excuse to stay at a DVC resort. grin

I pack 3-4 outfits per person and wash midweek. There is always a place to do laundry near the pools. It's a good time to relax. The kids swim, while I watch them and switch the loads to the dryer. Usually by mid week it's good to have a quiet afternoon or evening to relax. Perfect opportunity to do laundry.

Another reason we drive, I do not do laundry on vacation, so we take everything but the kitchen sink!

I used to say I would absolutely NEVER, ever do any laundry on vacay. But... after staying in some of the villas and having free access to a washer/dryer right in the room. Well, I changed my mind. wink

I have done a couple of loads of laundry and then brought home a suitcase of clean, folded clothes instead of a suitcase of dirty clothes! It make re-entry a little easier when you don't have to face Mt. Stinky Clothes upon your return home. LOL!
