Ok....we stayed at Pop and Jason and I loved it!

But we realized that all we do at the resort is sleep......what about Music, Sports and Movies.....I have heard stories about these 3. Just wondering what you all thought about them.

If My Mom doesn't go next year.....it will be Jason and I. But we would like to stay at different resorts each time we go.

The All-Star resorts are quite similar stylistically to Pop Century. Since they are older, the concept for Value resorts was not as honed when they were built and you can see the evolution between All-Star Sports (the oldest) and Pop Century (the newest until AoA opens).

The main differences are:

* At Pop, there is only 1 bus stop. At the All-Stars, 1 bus is sometimes shared by all 3 resorts. Not usually during peak times, but at times one bus will stop at all 3 resorts - Sports, Music and then Movies.

* The All-Stars are often home to LARGE groups of Cheerleading, Football and youth groups looking to stay on a budget. Many of them are NOT chaperoned (use your imagination). The food courts, busses, pools and courtyards can become quite crowded/unruly during these times.

* The guest room buildings at Pop are 4-story, at the All-Stars they are 3-story. There are elevators at both, so no need to worry about that.

* The food court at Pop is slightly larger than ones at the All-Stars. Most noticeably so over Sports and Music. Movies is pretty comparable. The food offerings/prices are the same at all. Pop Century has a free-standing bar area outside, Petals. The bar area at the All-Stars is connected to the food court from outside. Both are in close proximity to the pools though.

* The rooms at all of the resorts are stylish and well-themed. All Star Movies guest rooms have been most recently refurbished. Pop's guest rooms were re-done in 2010. All are the same price, with the exception of the Family Suites at All-Star Music which are substantially more.

I hope these distinctions help you in your decision. Have a great trip, whichever you decide!

Lora if it was me and I wanted to try a new value in 2013, I'd be looking at the Little Mermaid Rooms at Art of Animation. They're scheduled to open in September of 2012 and are the last of the areas at AOA to open, so the whole resort will be in full swing by the time you and your mom are ready to travel. The Mermaid rooms are standard rooms, not suites, although they will cost a little more than Pop it isn't a whole lot ($5 more/night in regular season this year).

DB and I had a brief stay at All Star Sports and it was awful from the word go. The staff was unorganized, the toilet flooded (3x), and they cancelled our reservation even though I'd called from the road and said we would be arriving early the following morning, and had been assured my room would be held. I was then scolded by the manager for not getting the name of the CM I spoke with. I proceeded to suggest that he ought to concern himself with properly training his staff rather than scolding his guests. It wasn't pretty. I'd just spent 23 hours in a car with a 2.5 year old and a 14 month old who decided this was a good time to cut 4 teeth. One of those times I was very thankful to have booked with a TA and I didn't have to fight that battle alone!

Oh Wow Amy! Im so sorry....that must have been awful.

I have heard not so nice things about the all star resorts. And I thought about AOA......but my mom wants to experience Pop as Emily experienced it...I just love my Mom wink But I will talk to her about AOA too and see what she has to say....I will leave it up to her!

We stayed in AS Music for 1 nite many years ago. We were in the Country Music area. It was very quiet, the room was clean, and we did not have any issues.
