xx Split reservation - Need to pick 2
« Thread started on: Nov 16th, 2012, 06:55am »

Kim and I were supposed to spend a long mother/daughter weekend at WDW last week - then Sandy hit and we had to cancel. We were going to go during NJ Teachers Convention when Kim would have had no school Thursday and Friday and return Monday but school was open and I couldn't justify her missing 3 days of school.
We're now planning a mother/daughter trip for the week after Labor Day - she starts school on the 9th next year.
She wants to try a Deluxe - just for a couple of days. We're thinking Pop for the first part of the trip and maybe Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club. What would you do? Give me pros and cons of these resorts and pros and cons of switching resorts.

Of the values, I have to say Pop is my favorite...and it has, by far, the best food court of the values!

For the deluxes you have listed, the only one I really did not care for was the Contemporary. Honestly, it did nothing for me - and I was in a tower/MK view room. Go figure! You will get others who feel differently though. Somehow I just cannot justify spending the money to stay there again, especially in a tower room (and to me, that is really the only way to go at Contemporary).

Beach Club is an awesome resort! Our second favorite, in fact. The location cannot be beat (walking distance to Epcot, boat to DHS, the Boardwalk), and you cannot go wrong staying there with access to Stormalong Bay! Plus Beaches & Cream is such a treat for a meal. The only downside to it would be the cost. If you can swing a discount, then it is a top-notch resort. And what I love about BC, is that I could care less what view I have there! LOL Honestly! Just keep in mind not all rooms have a full balcony if that is important to you.

Wilderness Lodge - what can I say? It's our favorite resort. First and foremost the price is outstanding for a deluxe, and again to me the view is not a deal breaker here. We love relaxing in the lobby, and Roaring Fork (their counter service) has some good options (love, love, love the deli here!). The Electrical Water Pageant floats by each evening, which is a fun show. The pool is nice, but certainly not Stormalong Bay. wink WL is always our first choice, so I am probably biased with this one. I'd have to say the only downside would be park access. The boat to MK is nice, but other than that you will need to catch a bus. We do enjoy having boat access to Ft. Wilderness for dinner at Trails End.

Now for the switching of resorts. In my opinion the only downside would be the packing! User Image It's a nice way to see different places, and gives the chance to spend a few extra bucks without breaking the bank.

It's Disney...you can't go wrong wherever you stay!!!

We have stayed at all of the 3 deluxes you mentioned, and Beach Club is my favorite.

I love it for it's:
*location
*the walking paths to both DHS and Epcot
*the boat option to Epcot/DHS
*the proximity to the BW and other resorts for additional dining options
*the decor
*Cape May character buffet nearby
*Beaches & Cream

I have also enjoyed WL. I love it for it's:
*fun, rustic decor
*Whispering Canyon Cafe
*walking path to Ft. Wilderness
*proximity to MK
*boat launch to FW/MK
*beautiful lobby

Of the 3 mentioned, the Contemporary is my least fave. We stayed at BLT before, and while it was certainly nice -- it was just not my "favorite." But the things I liked about it were:
*modern decor (in BLT)
*had a great view for the MK fireworks from our balcony
*proximity to MK
*monorail access
*Chef Mickey's

Happy choosing!
