This was one of my favorite rides at Disneyland (turned in to Mission to Mars) when I was a kid. This I think was the first use of Tom Morrow in the control center. I loved the Dodo bird that would set off the alarms every time. For some reason it just tickled me. grin

Also loved how they made you feel like you were taking off and in zero gravity (with no seat belts) grin

Great attraction. In Disneyland, Redd Rockett's Pizza Port is built on the site of the old attraction.

I think we went to this one at WDW in Dec 1971 when I was 12, there was one ride I couldn't remember for the longest time, but this might be it.

The Disneyland version (I'm guessing the WDW version was the same) you would walk in and the live CM would show you the control center where Dr. Tom Morrow was. He would turn around and talk to you for a few minutes.

You would then load in to the spaceship. It was a round room with seats in a circle on different levels with a screen in the middle of the room on the floor and one on the ceiling (so you could see where you were going and where you had been.

Very fun ride.

For a blast from the past, slip over to http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/id88.htm to see pictures of both Flight to the Moon and Mission to Mars and to read the scripts.

I always like the the dodo, too, Bil. grin
